William Edward Millner was a genre and animal painter who lived and worked in Gainsborough Lincolnshire. He first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1869. He largely painted rustic scenes specialising in horses. A number of his paintings can be seen at the Gainsborough Old Hall Museum. His father ( William Millner ) was also a local artist and teacher. ` A Wayside Gossip ` signed and dated 1873 is in the Tate Gallery, London.
